Select the Right Air Conditioner for Your Home

The process of selecting the proper air conditioning system for your home is not as easy as it might seem. Airwest Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc starts by surveying your home to determine things like wall and window areas, window coverings, insulation levels, and orientation on the site. We take these measurements and enter them into a computerized cooling load calculation software program (Manual J) to determine the proper size of your system.

Airwest then selects the proper combination of furnace, evaporator coil, and condenser that will deliver the capacity needed. We work with you to select the level of efficiency that meets your budget. The efficiency of a system is commonly expressed in the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER). The higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the system.

After we complete our installation, we conduct the most important part of the process, the commissioning. In the commissioning process, we test the system for optimal electrical usage, proper airflow, correct refrigerant charge, and minimal duct leakage.

Only by us taking the time and effort to do a proper commissioning are you assured that the system you just spent good money on is operating at its’ maximum efficiency. Most HVAC companies do not do this type of commissioning.

Be sure to ask one of our comfort advisors how you can get the most for your cooling dollars. Give us a call to schedule a tune-up or to schedule a repair. If you think your cooling system needs to be replaced, contact us today for a free install estimate.

Heating Products

High-Efficiency Furnaces Available

Believe it or not, most heating systems in Southern California are oversized. Because our furnaces also provide the airflow for our cooling systems, we typically select our furnaces with air conditioning in mind, even if we don’t install air conditioning at the same time.

You also have many more options available for furnace units. While 80% efficient furnaces are the minimum allowed, we have furnaces as high as 96% efficient. You can expect an annual savings of approximately $100 by going to the more efficient model.

Newer furnaces also give you such choices as modulating, two-stage, and single-stage gas values operation. Modulating and two-stage gas valves will give you more precise heating control. If fan noise is a concern, variable-speed and two-speed fan motors will offer you a quieter operation than single-speed models.

Our comfort advisors at Airwest Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc will be happy to go over all your options and help you pick out the best heating system for your needs and budget. For more information, contact us today. Request a free estimate, schedule a tune-up, or schedule a repair.

Ductwork Products

Ductwork Designed by the Experts

One of the most important and often overlooked aspects of optimally operating heating and cooling system is the ductwork. It is your ductwork that carries the air from your furnace or air handler to the outlets in the ceiling or walls.

Recent scientific research indicates that a typical duct system loses between 25 to 40 percent of the air put out by the furnace or air handling unit. This wasted air increases your monthly bills and causes hot or cold spots in your home. In addition, duct leaks can bring in dusty, moldy, and potential contaminated air from places like your attic, garage, or crawlspace.

In order to make sure that your whole system performs to its maximum potential, Airwest Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc designs your duct system so that it is properly sized and installed to prevent restrictions. We double seal all of our ductwork to prevent excessive leakage. We test your ductwork after installation to ensure that any leakage is kept to an absolute minimum.

Our standard ductwork is a Class I flexible duct with R-6 insulation and a silver mylar jacket. R-8 insulated duct is also available. Please contact us today with any questions about ductwork or any other of our products or services. Whole House Fans

Cool Your Home With a Whole House Fan

In Southern California, where mild weather is one of the many benefits of living here, a whole house fan can be a wonderful addition to your home. Working alone or in conjunction with your cooling system, a whole house fan can keep your utility bills low by utilizing cooler outside air.

A whole house fan works by pulling cool air in from the outdoors and pushing out the warmer house air out through your attic. By turning the fan on in the early morning, you can pre-cool your home before the warm daylight sun. At night you can utilize cooler evening breezes to keep your home comfortable all night long.

Contact Airwest Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc today to discuss the benefits with one of our comfort advisors. Request a free estimate. You can also schedule a repair or schedule a tune-up.

Zoning Controls

Purchase a Zoning System Today

Zoning controls can be a very effective way to maintain desired comfort levels in different areas of your home. A zoning system works with a combination of multiple thermostats and motorized dampers to regulate the flow of air where it is desired.

You can maintain different temperatures or schedules for different areas of the home or turn off one area completely that is seldom used. Zoning controls give you more flexibility and control over temperatures while saving you money on your utility bills.

Ask our comfort advisors at Airwest Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc how a zoning system can work in your home. Please contact us with any questions regarding zoning or any other of our products and services.
